Purchase and renovation of the Bevo mill

The Bevo mill, located south of Saint-Louis, was bought and renovated by Patrick Schuchard. Established in 1917, Bevo Windmill is a world-famous landmark in the heart of South City, best known for its main feature: a 60-foot-tall windmill. Originally built by the Busch family as a staging area between the historic Anheuser-Busch brewery and what is now known as Grant’s Farm, Das Bevo entertains the region’s most interesting and over-the-top characters as well as their friends and family for decades. Today, having been redesigned and rehabilitated to its former glory, Das Bevo is once again bustling, this time as a beer garden and event space, with all of its original original charm still intact.

“We’ve been working on this for 4 to 5 years and I think the surrounding business activity speaks for itself,” said owner Patrick Schuchard. “There are 8-10 new restaurants in the area. Those who were there before us seem to be doing very well.

Mr. Schuchard said working with the STL Partnership corporate finance team was easy.

“What I love about them (the STL Partnership corporate finance team) is that they really understand the ups and downs of companies like us,” said Schuchard. “They understand how difficult it can be. “

Zack Folk, Business Development Officer for the STL Partnership, said working with Mr. Schuchard on this project was special for him.

“Helping Das Bevo with its renovation and reopening using the SBA 504 loan program was a special project for me since I grew up in the neighborhood of Bevo,” said Folk. “The Bevo Mill is often referred to as the ‘mothership’ by the residents of Bevo, and the Schuchards have done an excellent job of restoring the building to its former glory. It was a pleasure to work with them and in partnership with Dio Maranan of CNB St. Louis Bank on this 504 loan.
