WASHINGTON – A grant of $ 79,200 was awarded by the US Economic Development Administration in Paden City, West Virginia.

The grant will support the city in implementing real estate improvements and transforming vacant industrial space into related manufacturing or business space.

U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito, RW.Va., a senior member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, and Joe Manchin, DW.Va., jointly announced the funding on Monday. Both senators sit on the Senate Supply Committee.

“As the town of Paden continues to grow, this EDA investment will help the community better identify areas for new development, especially areas of opportunity. In turn, these developments will help stimulate the local economy, ”said Capito. “As a ranking member of the EPW committee, which oversees the EDA, I am proud to see this award supporting Paden City and its economic potential.”

Paden City is on the border between Tyler and Wetzel counties.

“EDA continues to be a strong partner for West Virginia through investments in our state, our businesses and our people. I am happy that EDA is investing in the town of Paden to modernize a vacant industrial space that will attract new manufacturers or businesses to the community. I was proud to support their efforts and look forward to seeing the positive impacts of this investment on the local economy. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for funding to stimulate economic development in Mountain State, ”Manchin said.
