JACKSONVILLE, NC (WITN) – Jacksonville Onslow Economic Development announced its new location on Thursday.
The organization will now have its own building in the old Jacksonville railroad depot, at the top of Riverwalk Park on Court Street.
JOED has been around for 50 years. However, “We kind of went one place or another and jumped from place to place,” said Royce Bennett, committee member and Onslow County Commissioner.
Bennett and members of the community helped fund the renovation of the building.
âThe city manager, Dr. Woodruff, actually came here and painted some of the paint inside. The community is mobilizing to make this happen – and to see it happen – it’s really cool, âsaid Jeff Clark, President of JOED.
âEveryone plays a crucial role and the community here comes together at a crucial time,â said Susan Ramsey of Express Employment Professionals.
The organization says it hopes the new location will help continue efforts to improve Jacksonville’s economy and provide a spark downtown.
