Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation executive director resigns

The Executive Director of the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation, Bill Anderson, has resigned from his post at the CAEDC.

Anderson accepted a job with RJ Thomas Manufacturing in Cherokee.

Anderson has led the Cherokee Area Economic Development Corporation since 2017. Under Anderson’s leadership, CAEDC has been a partner in many new businesses and business expansions in the region. He came to the CAEDC after serving in the State Senate, where he represented Cherokee County during his first term.

CAFDC Board Chair Rick Mongan said, “Five years ago the Board could not have found a better person to lead CAFDC. Bill brought his knowledge, passion, drive and great network to the post and worked tirelessly to take our county to the next level.

Anderson reflected on his experience with the CAEDC: “I have enjoyed leading Cherokee County’s economic development efforts for almost five years. I would like to thank the CAEDC Board of Directors, Board of Overseers, CIC and MEDCO Boards of Directors, Mayors, Council Members, Clerks and all business and community members with whom I had the honor to work.

Anderson continued, “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to join the team at RJ Thomas Manufacturing. I look forward to the challenges ahead and am grateful for the trust the Thomas family has in me. My family and I are looking forward to this next chapter of our lives in an area we call home.

The Cherokee Area Economic Development Council is currently interviewing candidates to fill the position of Executive Director.
