Avondale EDGE received top honors at the Arizona Association for Economic Development (AAED) Statewide Fall Forum. The Arizona Association for Economic Development presented 10 Golden Prospector Awards for excellence, innovation and creativity in economic development at its annual fall statewide forum held at the end of last month in Flagstaff.

The Special Event Golden Prospector Award went to the town of Avondale for hosting the 2020 NASCAR National Championship Watch Night so fans can watch the race from the comfort of their own cars, similar to the concept d ‘a film behind the wheel.

“We are very proud of the collaboration and innovation that took place over the past year to improve the lives of the people of Arizona,” said AAED Executive Director Carrie Kelly. “This year, our communities have had to think outside the box to support our state’s economic growth in the midst of the pandemic and they have kept their promises. “

The Golden Prospector Awards were created over 20 years ago to recognize excellence in economic development.
