A donation, the purchase of land and financing help broaden economic development opportunities

A contract to purchase 200 acres east of Chillicothe for an industrial park has been approved by Chillicothe City Council. The board approved two ordinances and a fundraising agreement to make the purchase possible.

The first is a $ 1.5 million donation from Chillicothe Development Incorporated (CDI) to help purchase the 200 acres. City attorney Robert Cowherd explains


Second, the City approved a purchase contract with Jerry and Rita Nibarger for the purchase of the 200 acres, east of Chillicothe and adjacent to the right received in a land swap with the Nibarger. City administrator Darin Chappell.

The last piece was the approval to go ahead with the funding. Joey McLiney of McLiney and Company spoke to the Board about the funding they hope to get.

After approval to go ahead, McLiney added.

The Nibargers and the city are preparing to complete the purchase before the end of December.
